Here is the standard Number One carriage without a barrel, displayed with it’s tools and implements. The carriage is built from Appalachian red oak with iron and brass fittings. Note the step in the trail stock just behind the wheels; this distinguished the early version from the later, or “Modified” Number One carriage. I build both versions, but prefer the look of the earlier stepped stock.
