The name Gatsby became associated with this hat as a result of the popularity of the book "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The story is set in New York among the very rich in the 1920's, when the Newsboy Cap was the hat of the day. The attention to fashion, both in the book, and later in the movie created an indelible association with this hat. The Linen Gatsby we feature is a great choice for warmer days. Natural Linen is a much stronger fiber than cotton, which allows for a light weight, breathable fabric that is very durable. Hat People Gatsbys are lined with cotton and can be washed by hand in cold water.
If you are unsure which cut is right for you, please refer to our Touring Cap Cuts page by clicking here. Size is measured in inches of circumference with a cloth tape. If you are sure of your standard hat size (inches of diameter) we can convert your measurement, but our experience is that not all diameters are the same!! So please take the time to measure your head with a cloth tape. We are making you a custom hat and we want it to fit properly.
